FOA calls for sanctions on ‘Israel’ following brutal assault on Jerusalem’s Al-Aqsa Mosque

London (QNN)- London-based Friends of Al-Aqsa (FOA) condemned Israeli forces’ Tuesday brutal assault on Jerusalem’s al-Aqsa Mosque and Muslim worshipers while peacefully observing the holy month of Ramadan.
Dr Ismail Patel, founder and chair of FOA, called in a statement on Wednesday for sanctions on Israel “for the apartheid state’s continued brutality against Palestinian worshippers at Al-Aqsa.”
“Words of condemnation are not enough,” Patel said, noting that action is needed and “Israel must be held responsible for its ongoing violence, human rights abuse and violations of international law.”
The group said if the “attacks were carried out by another country the British government would not hesitate to impose sanctions today.”
Last night, Israeli occupation forces brutally attacked dozens of Palestinian worshipers at Al-Aqsa Mosque before forcibly expelling them from the site while they were observing I’tikaf.
Hundreds of women, men, elderly people, and children were staying overnight to observe the I’tikaf at the al-Qibli prayer hall. The forces used stun grenades and fired tear gas and rubber-coated metal bullets into the prayer hall. They also beat worshipers with batons and riot guns, wounding dozens and arresting between 400-500 men.
