First polls: Kais Saied wins Tunisia elections
Tunis (QNN)- Polls have closed in Tunisia’s runoff presidential contest between media mogul Nabil Karoui and independent candidate Kais Saied, a retired law professor.
First polls by Sigma Conseil showed that Kaid Saied has won 76.9% of Tunisians’ votes.
The turnout was at 39.2 percent at 15:30 local time, according to Isie (Independent High Authority for Elections).
The Supreme Electoral Tribunal announced that the elections were closed with approximately 57.8% voter participation.
The two candidates advanced to the runoff after gaining more votes than 24 other candidates in the first round of voting on Sept. 15.
