Fifth-Tier English Club Fires Official Salma Mashhour Over Pro-Palestine Views

London (Quds News Network)- English fifth-tier football club Dagenham & Redbridge has fired Egyptian official Salma Mashhour just days after her appointment. The club announced the decision on Thursday, ending her role as Development Director with immediate effect.
The sacking came only 72 hours after her official appointment. The move sparked controversy, as many linked it to her public support for the Palestinian cause.
Salma’s appointment came alongside another Egyptian figure, popular sports content creator Marwan Serry. He recently joined the club’s ownership group and shared the news on X, expressing pride in becoming part of the club.
After Salma’s removal, Serry posted a video on X, voicing his frustration and denying any role in the decision. He promised to release a full statement soon. He also urged Arab fans to boycott the club’s upcoming match until he clarifies the situation.
Dagenham & Redbridge zionist fans had launched an online campaign against Mashhour. Many demanded her dismissal, citing her pro-Palestine and anti-genocide stance as controversial and inconsistent with the club’s image.
However, her dismissal sparked a wave of solidarity online. Social media users voiced strong support for her and praised Serry for distancing himself from the decision and standing by Arab fans.
Dagenham & Redbridge currently plays in the National League, England’s fifth division. The club sits 21st in the standings with 44 points from 42 matches. The team is five points below safety with just four games left, facing a serious risk of relegation.
