Families of Israeli prisoners urge Biden to pressure Netanyahu for prisoner exchange deal

Occupied Palestine (Quds News Network)- The families of Israeli prisoners have called on US President Joe Biden to pressure Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to finalize a prisoner exchange deal this week. Their plea comes ahead of a critical meeting between mediators in Cairo as Netanyahu continues to add more conditions.
During a press conference held today, the families said that Netanyahu is systematically obstructing the exchange deal due to his stringent conditions, particularly regarding the contentious Philadelphia Corridor, a major point of disagreement in the ongoing negotiations.
The families criticized Netanyahu for acting in his political interests, telling President Biden, “Netanyahu is deceiving you and doing the opposite of what he says; you should not trust him”
Earlier today, a delegation from the Hamas movement, led by senior official Khalil Al-Hayya, arrived in Cairo. Hamas leader Mahmoud Al-Mardawi told Quds News Network that the delegation is going to Cairo to listen closely to the mediators, not to resume negotiations.
He emphasized that Hamas is committed to its stance and to the terms of the July 2, 2024 agreement, calling on the mediators to pressure Israel to adhere to the agreed-upon terms and to begin implementing the agreement according to the mechanisms that will be issued during the Cairo meeting. He added that the movement sees no benefit in returning to negotiations over matters that have already been agreed upon.
