Exclusive| Hamas: Mediator efforts ongoing but Israel unwilling to reach agreement

Gaza (Quds News Network)- Hamas spokesperson Jihad Taha has told Quds News Network that mediator efforts are ongoing to address all details and reach a consensus. However, he said Israel is persistently employing delaying tactics and creating new issues.

In an interview with Quds News Network, Taha stated, “Our impression today is that Israel lacks flexibility and seriousness in reaching an agreement. Their clear objective is to continue their aggression, including today’s attacks on international relief workers and refugee camps.”

Regarding the Rafah Crossing, Taha emphasized the necessity of Israeli withdrawal from the area, asserting that Palestinian sovereignty over it is essential. “We the Palestinian people can manage our own affairs and address all national issues,” he said.

Taha also addressed Hamas’s vision for the post-war period: “Hamas is an integral part of the Palestinian national fabric and cannot be marginalized. We are open to managing the Palestinian national situation based on partnership, including forming a national unity government or a government of technocrats to handle the aftermath of the aggression.”

Commenting on recent statements by Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu, Taha remarked, “Netanyahu’s positions are opportunistic and irresponsible, aimed at obstructing all efforts and negotiations. This undoubtedly harms the progress of talks and mediator efforts. Therefore, there must be an international and global movement to halt Israel’s intransigence, massacres, and crimes against the Palestinian people, and to compel Israel to ceasefire and end the aggression.”
