Ex-prisoner Noa Argamani Describes Deadly Israeli Airstrike at UN Meeting

Occupied Palestine (Quds News Network)- At a UN Security Council meeting today, former prisoner Noa Argamani shared details of an Israeli airstrike that killed Israeli prisoner Yossi Sharabi and nearly took her life.

She recalled the evening when an Israeli attack destroyed the house where she, Yossi Sharabi, and Itay Svirsky were held. She said that the house “blew up”. “Itay was able to stand up, but Yossi and I were stuck under the rubble,” she added.

“I couldn’t move. I couldn’t breathe. I thought it was my last moment. I screamed as loud as I could so someone would hear me. I heard Yossi screaming too. But after a few seconds, he went silent,” she added.

She said that resistance fighters pulled her from the rubble. “I tried to help Yossi, but it was too late.” However, she claimed she was the only one who attempted to rescue him, raising doubts about the credibility of her statement, especially since the fighters had just saved her, making it unlikely they would abandon Yossi.

Argamani avoided mentioning the fighters’ role in the rescue, speaking in passive voice about both their actions and the Israeli airstrike that destroyed the house.

She continued, saying that she and Itay Svirsky “had to find somewhere else to hide,” and fighters moved them to another house. Later, she claimed that the fighters killed Itay, despite earlier stating they were relocating him for safety.

Argamani also referenced a Hamas-released video from January 15, 2024. In that footage, she described the same events but included key details she omitted in her UN speech. She stated that an Israeli F-16 jet fired three missiles at their building. Two exploded, burying them under rubble.

In the video, she acknowledged that resistance fighters rescued her and Itay but were unable to save Yossi. She also stated that Itay was later killed by an Israeli airstrike while they were being evacuated to another location.

“They moved me and Itay to another place, and during the transfer, Itay was hit by an IDF airstrike. He did not survive. I remained with head injuries, my head full of shrapnel, and wounds across my body”, she said.

Argamani said she was wounded, with shrapnel in her head and injuries across her body. However, in her UN testimony, she claimed she never received medical treatment, yet still recovered.

Her statements at the UN raised questions about inconsistencies between her accounts and the omission of key details from her earlier testimony.

Shortly after her release, Argamani stated that she was not beaten by Hamas fighters, but she has bruises resulted from the Israeli strikes.

“I can’t ignore what happened in the media over the past 24 hours. Things were taken out of context,” she said, referring to reports in Israeli media claiming she had said she was beaten all over her body during her captivity.

“I was not beaten, and my hair was not cut. I was in a building that was bombed by the [Israeli] Air Force. The accurate quote is: ‘This past weekend, after the shooting, as I said, I had cuts all over my head and was injured all over my body.”
