EU’s Borrell: “Ceasefire has to happen now”
Brussels (Quds News Network)- EU foreign policy chief Josep Borrell has repeated his call for a ceasefire in Gaza, after an Israeli attack on a field hospital in Deir al-Balah in the central Gaza Strip, reportedly killing at least 30 Palestinians.
“Yet another attack on a school used as a shelter for internal displaced people” in Deir al-Balah, he said on X.
“At the same time an already very fragile population is asked to relocate again and again, with no end in sight,” he added.
Borrell concluded, “Ceasefire has to happen now. International Humanitarian Law has to be respected. Humanitarian assistance to civilians needs to be delivered at scale.”
Israeli air strikes on Khadija Girls’ School, a girls’ school in Deir al-Balah, central Gaza, killed at least 30 people and wounded over 100 on Saturday, according to the Palestinian Health Ministry.
The School was sheltering over 4,000 displaced Palestinians, according to civil defence officials in the Strip. A field hospital was also operating inside the school complex.
Israeli fighter jets fired three missiles at the field hospital in the school, the government media office in Gaza said in a statement.
