Egyptian young man arrested over raising Palestine flag

Cairo (QNN)- Egypt’s State Security Prosecution on Tuesday decided to detain Izz Muneer Khadr for 15 days on remand after he raised Palestine flag during a football match.

Khadr’s lawyer, Omar Abdel Salam, said “I was hired by the young man’s family to defend him. Tomorrow, I will head to the State Security Prosecution to meet the attorney general and discuss the charges, which were brought against the suspect, and review the interrogation documents before attending the next session with him”.

The lawyer said in a Facebook post that Khadr was brought before the prosecutor on Monday. The court ruled to put Khadr in pre-trial detention at Turrah jail.

A video footage of Khadr trended on social media. The video shows the 19-year-old young man in civilian clothes raising Palestine flag during a football match between Egypt and South Africa.
