Detainees released from Israeli custody in Gaza report inhumane treatment and abuse

Gaza (Quds News Network) – Palestinians recently released from Israeli detention in Gaza have reported harrowing accounts of torture and abuse during their captivity.
The Israeli military arrested dozens of civilians from across the Gaza Strip since the commencement of its ground offensive in the enclave on October 27.
Individuals detained without apparent cause endured confinement ranging from days to weeks before being released in groups. Those seeking medical treatment at Al-Najjar Hospital in Rafah recounted the traumatic experiences they faced during their time in Israeli custody.
Khaled al-Nabris, a 48-year-old resident of Khan Yunis, the largest city in southern Gaza, revealed the harsh conditions during his captivity. “From the moment we entered until we left, torture was incessant, even the place where we slept was invaded by dogs. The temperature was cold, with only one blanket, and they would spray water on us,” said al-Nabris.
He added that during the initial 72 hours, they were forbidden to drink, eat, or use the restroom, with hands bound and eyes blindfolded for the entire seven days of detention.

Another detainee, Abu Khamees from the Bureij refugee camp, described the horrific conditions, stating, “We faced torture, beatings, and humiliation.” He expressed concern about the injuries sustained during imprisonment.
According to Gaza authorities, 114 individuals, including four women, were returned to the Gaza Strip via the Karm Abu Salem crossing on Thursday. Among them was Dr. Mohammad al-Ran, head of the surgery department at the Indonesian Hospital in northern Gaza, who was detained two months ago during the Israeli army’s incursion into the facility.
