Despite Israel’s morning attack, 60,000 Palestinians perform Friday prayer at Al-Aqsa

Occupied Palestine (QNN)- Nearly 60,000 Palestinian worshipers performed Friday prayer at Al-Aqsa mosque on the second Friday of Ramadan.

Jerusalem’s Islamic Waqf said that despite the Israeli restrictions and the forces’ morning attack, about 60,000 worshipers succeeded in visiting Al-Aqsa mosque and performing the Friday prayer on Ramadan’s second Friday.

After the prayer, the worshipers gathered at the courtyards of the mosque and chanted slogans pledging to protect Al-Aqsa mosque and the holy city from the Israeli violations.

Earlier today, the Israeli occupation forces broke into the al-Aqsa Mosque and brutally attacked the worshipers who gathered to perform the Al-Fajr prayer.

The Palestinian Red Crescent said at least 153 Palestinian worshipers were injured during the Israeli forces’ morning assault.

The forces fired rubber-coated metal bullets, stun grenades and tear gas canisters directly and intensively at the worshipers. They also severely beat them, including children, women, journalists and youths.

The forces also arrested about 400 Palestinians from the courtyards of the mosque since the morning assault, according to local sources.

After nearly a 6-hour assault against the Palestinians, the Palestinians succeeded in reaching the holy site again and performing the Friday prayer.

Thousands of Palestinian youths stayed at Al-Aqsa mosque overnight amid calls by extremist Jewish groups to enter the compound on Friday to perform a Passover sacrifice, in violation of the status quo agreements on religious practice at the site.
