Despite full lockdown… Protests in Turkey in solidarity with Palestine

Ankara (QNN)- Despite full lockdown, thousands of people on Tuesday gathered outside the Israeli embassy in Ankara and its consulate in Istanbul to protest Israeli violations against Palestinians.

Despite a full lockdown aimed at curbing coronavirus increase, protesters in Istanbul, including Syrians and Palestinians, raised Palestinian flags and chanted “(Turkish soldiers) to Gaza” and “Down with Israel, down with America.”

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan had on Saturday condemned Israel’s “heinous” attacks against Jerusalem’s Al Aqsa Mosque during Ramadan, expressing solidarity with Palestinians.

“We strongly condemn Israel’s heinous attacks against our first qibla #AlAqsaMosque, that are unfortunately being carried out every Ramadan,” Erdoğan said on Twitter.

“As Turkey, we will continue to stand by our Palestinian brothers and sisters in all circumstances,” he added.

Erdoğan also spoke on the issue after an iftar (fast-breaking) meal in Istanbul.

“Israel, a cruel and terrorist state, is attacking Muslims who have no purpose but to protect their ancestral homes,” he said.
