“Deliberate Choices”: UN Condemns Israel for Deadly Gaza ‘Aid Distribution Center’ Massacres

Gaza  (Quds News Network)- The world continues to witness horrifying scenes in Gaza, where Palestinians are shot, wounded, or killed while simply trying to access food aid. UN humanitarian chief Tom Fletcher confirmed that hundreds of trauma cases have been treated by emergency medical teams. Dozens died just yesterday after Israeli forces opened fire near so-called ‘aid distribution sites’.

Fletcher said these deaths result from deliberate decisions to systematically deprive two million Palestinians of essential supplies needed to survive. He called for immediate, independent investigations and stressed that those responsible must face accountability. “No one should have to risk their life to feed their children,” Fletcher said.

The UN demands the full opening of all border crossings to allow life-saving aid to enter Gaza at scale from all directions. Fletcher urged lifting restrictions on the type and quantity of aid, ensuring that humanitarian convoys face no delays or denials.

Meanwhile, the ‘Gaza Humanitarian Foundation’— created and backed by the US and Israeli military—halted food distribution at its three centers after Israeli forces admitted to firing on people approaching aid sites, including in Rafah, southern Gaza. Health officials and eyewitnesses blame Israeli forces for the deaths of at least 27 Palestinians near aid points on June 3. Hospitals report at least 80 deaths around aid sites since they opened last week.

Israel and the US claim the new aid system prevents Hamas from stealing, though Israel has not provided any evidence backing its claim against the resistance movement.

International organizations warn the current aid system endangers lives. Oxfam’s policy director in Palestine, Bushra Al-Khalidi, said aid distribution must be handled by international groups. “The current system is killing people in Gaza,” she said. “Depriving people of food is a strategy unrelated to combat. Israel has no right to starve and kill two million people.”

UNRWA’s Commissioner-General, Philippe Lazzarini, warned no humanitarian aid has reached Gaza in over three months. He called on the UN to deliver aid safely, citing worsening suffering.

The UK’s Middle East Minister, Alistair Burt, backed UNRWA and trusted organizations as the most effective aid providers. He expressed shock over casualties near aid distribution points.

Experts warned earlier this year that Gaza faces famine without an end to Israel’s siege and attacks, which Israel intensified since March 2025 to pressure Hamas into a ceasefire favoring Israel and does not end the genocide.

The UN and aid agencies say the aid allowed into Gaza remains a mere “drop in the ocean” compared to the needs of the more than two million residents.

The humanitarian crisis in Gaza deepens daily as restrictions and violence continue to block essential aid, leaving millions trapped and starving under siege.
