Defence for Children International: ‘Israel’ killed 7 children in 2020
Ramallah (QNN)- The occupation state continued its policy against Palestinian children in 2020, torturing and killing Palestinian children with impunity and amid international silence, Defense for Children International (DCI)- Palestine stated.
In a press statement published on Monday, the international watchdog said Israeli forces murdered seven children this year in the West Bank and Gaza strip, the latest of them is Amer Snowbar (16 years old) from Yitma in southern Nablus, who was beaten to death by Israeli Yasam forces.
The statement added that an investigation by the NGO revealed that the child was trying to help his 17-year-old friend, whose car broke down near Turmus Ayya in Ramallah.
It stressed that lethal force could never be justified under international law unless there is a direct threat to life or a serious injury. Nevertheless, all information state that Israeli forces use lethal source against Palestinian children in unjustifiable circumstances, which amounts to murder and extrajudicial killing.
The statement also mentioned the murder of Muhammad Matar (16 years old) from the village of Deir Abu Mash’al in Ramallah, who was shot on August 19, 2020, when he and two friends of him approached a settlers-only road near their village, killing him and wounding his friends. Matar’s body is still held by the Israelis so far.
