Corbyn: We must renew our calls for a free and independent Palestine
London (QNN)- Former UK Labour Party leader Jeremy Corbyn has expressed solidarity with the Palestinians on the International Day of Solidarity with the Palestinian people, urging to renew calls for a “free and independent Palestine.”
“75 years ago, the UN passed the Partition Resolution. Palestinians are still denied the right to self-determination enshrined in international law,” Corbyn wrote in a tweet on Tuesday.
He added, “On the International Day of Solidarity with the Palestinian People, we must renew our calls for a free & independent Palestine.”
In 1977, the General Assembly called for the annual observance of 29 November as the International Day of Solidarity with the Palestinian People (resolution 32/40 B). On that day, in 1947, the Assembly adopted the resolution on the partition of Palestine (resolution 181 (II)).
