Confrontations and angry protests following death of Palestinian prisoner due to Israeli medical negligence

Occupied West Bank (QNN)- Violent confrontations erupted between dozens of Palestinian young men and Israeli soldiers at the northern entrance of Bireh.

Angry locals, who went out to protest Israeli policies of medical negligence against Palestinian prisoners, which killed prisoner Bassam Sayeh yesterday, burnt tires and threw stones at Israeli soldiers near Beit El checkpoint.

In the same vein, PLO security services prevented dozens of protesters from reaching the northern entrance of Bireh to clash with Israeli soldiers.

In Nablus, dozens of Palestinians participated in a vigil to protest against the murder of Bassam Sayeh and show solidarity with other sick prisoners.

In Gaza, Palestinians took part in a vigil outside the headquarter of the Red Cross.

Bassam sayeh died on Sunday after suffering bone cancer, severe myeloid leukemia, cardiac insufficiency, acute and chronic pneumonia, in addition to other health problem. However, that did not prevent the Israelis from denying him medical treatment.

Nearly 700 Palestinian prisoners suffer from very hard health conditions. 160 of them need urgent medical treatment, while the Israelis claim that they do not have the suitable medical treatment for them.
