Community in Majdal Shams mourns victims of attack on football field

Occupied Golan Heights (Quds News Network)- Residents of Majdal Shams in the occupied Syrian Golan Heights held a funeral today, Sunday, for the victims of the attack on a football field that took place in the village yesterday, Saturday. According to eyewitnesses, the attack was likely carried out by an Israeli Iron Dome interceptor missile.

The massacre resulted in the death of 12 children from Majdal Shams, with around 30 others injured, some critically.

The people of Majdal Shams angrily protested the visit of Israeli ministers and officials to the village for the funeral, demanding that they leave immediately. Israeli Channel 13 reported that protesters shouted at Finance Minister Bezalel Smotrich, telling him to leave.

One villager yelled at Smotrich, “Get out of here, criminal! We don’t want you in the Golan.”

Yedioth Ahronoth quoted another resident addressing the ministers, saying, “You came to dance on the blood of our children.”

The Israeli ministers and officials came to attend the funeral of the 12 victims who died in the incident on Saturday, following an incitement campaign by Israeli official against Hezbollah and Lebanon. Israel claims that Hezbollah was responsible, but the party denied this, stating the incident was caused by an Israeli interceptor missile.

Channel 12 reported that Knesset members faced strong condemnation from the villagers, who saw their visit as mere propaganda and labeled them as murderers.

From the very first moments of the tragic event in occupied Majdal Shams, the political and media levels in the occupying state have exploited it for various objectives in their battle against the resistance. Eyewitness testimonies from the village suggest a high probability that the missile that killed the children was from the Israeli air defense system. Meanwhile, Hezbollah has denied any missile strikes on the area or targeting it, refuting Israeli lies.

Israel attempted to exploit the positions of some Druze figures aligned with it, using their statements to incite against Hezbollah, who demonstrated absolute loyalty to the occupation state, and promoted sectarian conflict. Additionally, the event was used to incite against the resistance and mobilize the Druze community, which has ties in Lebanon, as well as to break the rejection stance among the occupied Syrian Golan residents regarding service in the occupation army.

Israel pushed figures from the Druze community in northern occupied Palestine, such as Sheikh Mowafaq Tarif, who is aligned with the occupation state, to incite against the resistance, presenting him as a representative of the occupied Syrian Golan residents, despite their refusal to hold Israeli citizenship and their adherence to Arab and Syrian positions since the beginning of the occupation in 1967, resisting recruitment attempts in the occupation army.
