Calls to protect farmers as Israeli settlers attack them and steal crops

Occupied West Bank (QNN)- Palestinian activists called to protect Palestinian farmers and trees of settlers’ attacks as such attacks have become more frequent recently.

Israeli illegal settlers attacked Saturday Palestinian farmers picking olives in the village of Burin, to the south of the northern West Bank city of Nablus, according to WAFA News.

Ghassan Daghlas, who monitors settlement activities in the area, told WAFA that settlers from the nearby notorious illegal settlement of Yitzhar attacked the farmers while picking olives in their fields near the village. No injuries were reported.

On Friday, a 55-year-old farmer, who was identified as Issa Ramadan, was injured in a similar attack by Jewish settlers in the nearby village of Tel, and two days earlier settlers stole the olive crops from a local farmer in the same village.

In the same vein, Arab 48 reported that Islam Ishtayyeh was held by settlers while he was working on a tractor in a farm in Beit Furik. His ID and cell phone were confiscated before being released three hours later.

In another incident, two farmers were wounded when Israeli settlers attacked them near Ras Karkar in western Ramallah. Meanwhile, witnesses said that groups of settlers attacked Palestinian farmers in the same area.
