British NGOs launch Aqsa week to Learn about and Love Al-Aqsa Mosque

UK (QNN)- Friends of Al-Aqsa (FOA) has partnered with American Muslims for Palestine (AMP) to deliver an exciting educational week in order to bring a global focus to Al-Aqsa and the Palestinian people.

Friends of Al-Aqsa is a UK based campaigning organization concerned with defending the human rights of Palestinians and protecting the sacred al-Aqsa Sanctuary in Jerusalem.

The week coincides with the last week of the Islamic month of Rajab, which this year falls on 6-12 March.

The organizations have called upon university societies, families, mosques, work places, halaqas, local councils and parliaments around the world to hold events under the hashtag of #LoveAqsa.

They will mark the week by organising varied events that bring to fore the centrality of Al-Aqsa and the plight of the Palestinians.

The events should also recognise other oppressed and colonised people, as they said.

The week also aims to teach Muslim and non-Muslims of the great heritage of Al-Aqsa mosque and how to support the occupied people around the world.

The chair of Friends of Al-Aqsa is Dr Ismail Patel told Arabi21 in an exclusive interview that the goal of launching Al-Aqsa International Week is to allow “every person in the world to engage with activities related to Al-Aqsa Mosque wherever they live for the sake of supporting the cause and publicising the mosque and its sanctity.”

Friends of Al-Aqsa, Dr Patel added, invites everyone to participate, organise events about Al-Aqsa in their locations to promote our heritage and show their love for Al-Aqsa.

“We are also organising an international prayer for Al-Aqsa Mosque, and we invite mosques around the world to dedicate a sermon to Al-Isra and Al-Mi’raj on Friday, 12 March.”
