Britain’s first MP of Palestinian descent urges ceasefire in Gaza

London (QNN) – Layla Moran, Britain’s first MP of Palestinian descent, has expressed her grave concern about the fate of her extended family trapped in the Holy Family Parish Church in Zeitoun neighborhood of Gaza City.
Moran called on the UK government to support an “immediate bilateral ceasefire,” emphasizing that the ongoing Israeli aggression is escalating tensions and impeding peace efforts.
Describing the dire conditions her family faces, Moran revealed, “There are tanks outside the gates, soldiers, and snipers pointing into the complex shooting at anyone who ventures out, and the convent was bombed.”
She highlighted the severe shortage of basic necessities, with some family members down to their “last can of corn,” facing electricity and clean water shortages.
Moran questioned the government’s stance on forced civilian displacement, noting that when the conflict began, IDF soldiers ordered civilians to evacuate against their will.
She pressed, “Can the government confirm that it sees the forced displacement of civilians as unacceptable?”
