BREAKING: 15-year-ol Palestinian boy killed by Israeli forces in Bethlehem
Bethlehem (QNN)- Israeli occupation forces shot and killed a 15-year-old Palestinian boy during a military raid into the Dheisheh refugee camp, south of the occupied West Bank city of Bethlehem, earlier this morning.
The Palestinian Health Ministry confirmed that Adam Ayyad, a 15-year-old resident of the Dheisheh camp, was shot in the chest by an Israeli live bullet, and he was rushed to a hospital where he was pronounced dead.
Local sources reported that Israeli occupation forces raided the camp at dawn today and started storming and searching several Palestinian houses.
Confrontations erupted between Palestinian youths and Israeli soldiers who attacked the residents by firing tear gas canisters, live bullets and rubber-coated metal bullets towards them, injuring two boys, including Ayyad who later died of his wounds.
During the same raid, the forces arrested a Palestinian youth after raiding his family house and turning it upside-down.
A one-day general strike is observed today in the city of Bethlehem in mourning of Ayyad.
Ayyad is the third Palestinian to be killed by Israeli forces in the occupied West Bank in the new year of 2023.
On Monday, two Palestinian youths, identified as Mohammad Samer Hushia, 22, and Fouad Mohammad Abed, 25, were shot dead by Israeli gunfire during a military raid into the village of Kafr Dan, northwest of Jenin in the northern occupied West Bank.
The United Nations marked 2022 as the deadliest year for Palestinians in the West Bank in 16 years as at least 171 Palestinians were killed by Israeli forces or settlers in the West Bank and occupied East Jerusalem in 2022, including more than 30 children. At least 9,000 others have been injured.
