Bouteflika drops bid for fifth term

Algeria (QNN)- Algeria’s President Abdelaziz Bouteflika has said he will not seek a fifth term and announced the delay of the country’s presidential polls amid mass protests against his reelection bid.

Biuteflika (82 years old) has led Algeria for 20 years but has been rarely seen in public since he suffered a stroke in 2013.

Algeria’s Prime Minister Ahmed Ouyahia announced Bouteflika’s resignation and was replaced by Interior Minister Noureddine Bedoui, who has been tasked with forming a new government, according to APS.
