Bosnia’s genocide museum offers visitors chance to send messages of solidarity with Palestine

Sarajevo, Bosnia and Herzegovina (Quds News Network) – The Museum of Crimes Against Humanity and Genocide in Sarajevo, Bosnia and Herzegovina, has opened a unique “message room” allowing visitors to express solidarity with the people of Gaza.
Established in 2016, the museum holds personal belongings of civilians who suffered torture and genocide at concentration camps established in various cities of the country during the Bosnian War from 1992 to 1995.
Officials at the museum, a prominent tourist attraction, draw parallels between the crimes committed against Bosnian Muslims during the war and the current situation in Gaza.
The “message room” initiative encourages visitors to convey support for Gaza through messages such as “Free Palestine,” “End the genocide,” and “Cease-fire now.”
Belma Zulic, the museum’s curator, expressed concern over the striking similarities between the past events in Bosnia and Herzegovina and the ongoing situation in Gaza. Zulic emphasized that the museum aims to inspire action against genocide and promote a call for peace.
“We are truly proud that our museum inspires people to end the genocide, call for peace, and understand the need for peace,” said Zulic. “The world must realize the real need to protect civilians and victims.”
Zulic pointed out the lack of substantial efforts to prevent genocide, ethnic cleansing, and human rights violations in Gaza, stressing the urgency of global intervention.
The ongoing Israeli genocidal offensive has resulted in a devastating toll, with nearly 30,000 Palestinians killed, as many as 70,000 injured, and with nearly 1.8 million people internally displaced.
The curator reiterated the museum’s message that action must be taken promptly to ensure peace and protect civilians, particularly women and children.
The Israeli government faces accusations of genocide at the International Court of Justice, with an interim ruling in January urging Tel Aviv to halt genocidal acts and ensure humanitarian aid reaches civilians in Gaza.
