Biden says he is praying for Rashida Tlaib’s family in Palestine following her criticism of US unconditional support for ‘Israel’
Michigan (QNN)- Rep. Rashida Tlaib confronted US President Joe Biden on Tuesday about his continued financial and diplomatic support for the occupation state while it continues to kill native Palestinians throughout Palestine.
Tlaib, the only Palestinian American in Congress, received the US president with fellow Michigan Democratic Rep. Debbie Dingell on a tarmac in Detroit. Biden and Tlaib were seen speaking for several minutes followed by a handshake. However, reporters were not able to hear the conversation.
According to an aide of Tlaib, she told Biden that Palestinian human rights are not up for negotiation and that the president must do more to protect civilian lives. She also reiterated that the status quo is enabling more violence and death and that the current and longtime US approach of “unconditional support” for the occupation state is not working to stop the killing.
“The U.S. cannot continue to give the right-wing Netanyahu government billions each year to commit crimes against Palestinians,” the aide said, referencing the $3.8 billion in annual aid Congress sends to ‘Israel’. “Atrocities like bombing schools cannot be tolerated, much less conducted with U.S.-supplied weapons.”
During remarks at a Ford electric vehicle facility in Michigan, Biden told Tlaib that he is praying for her family in the Israeli-occupied West Bank.
“I admire your intellect, I admire your passion, and I admire your concern for so many other people,” the president told her in his remarks.
“And from my heart, I pray that your grandma and family are well,” he said. “I promise you I’ll do everything to see that they are, on the West Bank. You’re a fighter, and God thank you for being a fighter.”
Biden administration had been reiterating its support for the occupation state and ‘Israel’s right to defend itself” on a daily basis, amid Israeli aggression on the Gaza strip that killed 219 civilians, including 63 children.
Israeli settlement in the West Bank and the Western part of Jerusalem have not stopped as well and have been covered by the Biden administration.
Israeli authorities also continue to practice apartheid, segregating against native Palestinians in the 1948-occupied territories.
Two days ago, the Washington Post reported that Biden approved an arms deal with the occupation State of Israel worth $735 million, which will primarily focus on the occupation state acquiring from the US accurate missiles, precision-guided weapons, and special munition capabilities.
