Bernie Sanders Slams Trump’s Gaza Plan: ‘Rebuild for Palestinians, Not Billionaires’

Gaza (Quds News Network)- US Senator Bernie Sanders rejected President Donald Trump’s plan for Gaza, calling it a land grab that ignores Palestinian suffering. He insisted that Gaza must be rebuilt for its people, not for wealthy investors.
“47,000+ Palestinians killed. 111,000 injured,” Sanders wrote on X. “Trump’s response? Forcibly expel Palestinians to make Gaza ‘a real estate development for the future. A beautiful piece of land.’ No. Gaza must be rebuilt for the Palestinian people, not billionaire tourists.”

Bernie Sanders’ remarks came after Trump doubled down on his Gaza proposal in a Fox News interview. The president said he wants to take over Gaza and expel its native people.
“We’ll build safe communities a little bit away from where they are, where all of this danger is,” Trump said. “In the meantime, I would own this. Think of it as a real estate development for the future, it would be a beautiful piece of land.”
When asked if Palestinians would have the right to return, Trump replied, “No, they wouldn’t, because they’re going to have much better housing.”
Trump introduced his plan during a ceasefire that paused Israel’s genocide in Gaza after 15 months of devastation. His proposal has faced widespread criticism, with Egypt, Jordan, and Palestinians rejecting any forced displacement.
His son-in-law, Jared Kushner, made similar comments in March 2024. Speaking at Harvard University, Kushner called Gaza’s Mediterranean coastline “very valuable” and suggested moving Palestinians out to “clean it up.”
Israel’s genocide in Gaza has left the enclave in ruins. Half of Gaza’s housing has been damaged or destroyed. Nearly 2 million people are displaced, struggling to find food, water, and medical supplies. Over 47,000 Palestinians have been killed.
