Bernie Sanders: Corbyn mistakenly thought that the Labour Party represents labor and was expelled

London- US Senator Bernie Sanders congratulated MP. Jeremy Corbyn for his re-election as an Independent in the UK elections and criticized the Labour Party’s decision to expel him.

“Congrats to Jeremy Corbyn for winning his seat as an Independent in the UK elections with a strong grassroots campaign”, he wrote on his account on X.

“Corbyn made the mistake of believing that the Labour Party should represent labor – and was expelled. His constituents disagreed”, he added.

Veteran politician Jeremy Corbyn won his parliamentary seat, beating the candidate of the Labour Party he used to lead and promising to be a thorn in the side of Keir Starmer’s incoming government

“Tonight’s result in Islington North gives us a glimpse of a different future, which puts the interests of the many ahead of those of the few”, Corbyn stated as soon as the results of the elections were announced.

“It is also a warning – a warning to the incoming government that dissent cannot be crushed without consequences. That ideas of equality, justice and peace are eternal. That hope for a better world can never be extinguished.”

Corbyn also highlighted Israel’s genocide in Gaza, stressing that the UK is complicit, calling for a ceasefire, recognition of the State of Palestine, and justice for the Palestinian people.

“That is a message that resonates with millions in this country, be they Muslim, Jewish, Christian, or of no particular faith. I think the incoming government needs to reflect that the people would’ve spoken out about Gaza are not gonna go away, are not gonna shut up. they’re gonna carry on speaking out.”

The Labour Part has faced backlash for the strong support it voiced for the occupation state of Israel during the genocide in Gaza. Keir Starmer said in an interview that Israel “has the right” to withhold power and water from Gaza, which is a war crime under the international law.

Corbyn was expelled from the party in 2020 after being accused by Starmer of undermining efforts to tackle anti-Semitism within the party. However, an investigation by Al Jazeera two years later revealed that unelected operatives secretly took control of the party to thwart Jeremy Corbyn’s leadership.

The investigation, which was based on the largest leak in British political history, showed how unelected officials set about silencing, excluding and expelling its Labour members in a ruthless campaign to destroy the chances of Jeremy Corbyn, the party’s elected leader, becoming Britain’s prime minister.
