Berlin police forbids New Year’s Eve pro-Palestine rally

Berlin (Quds News Network) – A planned pro-Palestine march slated for New Year’s Eve in Berlin has been prohibited by local authorities, as reported by Anadolu Agency.

The demonstration, titled “No celebration during genocide,” was set to take place in the Neukolln district from 10:30 p.m. local time (2130 GMT) on Sunday until 1 a.m. The Berlin police, in a statement, cited an “imminent danger” of what it said potential anti-Semitic slogans and the glorification of violence during the protest.

In the preceding weeks, tens of thousands of pro-Palestinian demonstrators worldwide have taken to the streets, urging an end to Israel’s ongoing genocide in Gaza. These protests reflect growing concern over the escalating civilian casualties and suffering resulting from the over 86 days of brutal Israeli aggression.

In a preliminary toll, the ongoing Israeli offensive on Gaza, which began on October 7, has resulted in more than 21,650 deaths and approximately 56,000 injuries. Thousands are still missing, with 70% of the victims being children and women.
