At Least 21 Palestinians Killed in Israeli Attack on Tent Camp in So-Called Gaza’s Mawasi “Safe Zone”

Gaza (Quds News Network)- At least 21 displaced Palestinians were killed on Wednesday in an Israeli attack that targeted a tent camp in southern Gaza’s al-Mawasi, which Israel had designated as a “humanitarian zone”.

The attack hit tents where more than 14 displaced families were sheltering, causing fires to break out and incinerating some of the victims, who include women and children, medical and local sources reported.

The al-Mawasi area has been heavily targeted by the Israeli military in recent weeks.

Hundreds of thousands of displaced Palestinians have taken shelter in al-Mawasi after Israel ordered them to leave northern and eastern Gaza soon after the assault broke out in October 2023.

Al-Mawasi witnessed several deadly Israeli attacks, including a devastating attack on July 13, when Israeli air strikes on displaced Palestinians killed at least 88 and wounded 289 others, according to Gaza’s health ministry.
