Ashkenazi meets with Jordanian FM at border

Israeli Foreign Minister Gabi Ashkenazi met with his Jordanian counterpart Ayman Safadi at the Allenby border crossing, the King Hussein Bridge, on Thursday.
“It is necessary for Israel to stop all measures that undermine the chances of achieving a just peace on the basis of a two-state solution,” said the statement released by the Jordanian Foreign Ministry.
“It is necessary to return to the negotiating table according to international law in order to find a real solution to achieve a just peace,” Safadi said.
Safadi also called on ‘Israel’ to “stop all provocative measures in the al-Aqsa Mosque/al-Haram al-Sharif and respect the existing legal and historical status.”
The statement also said that Safadi and Ashkenazi discussed “anumber of pending concerns, including water rights, lifting restrictions on Jordanian exports to the West Bank, Jordanian provision of additional electricity to the Palestinian Authority, and organizing movement through border crossings in light of their closure due to the coronavirus pandemic.”
