Arabs use 1400-year-old Arabic writing to trick social media censorship

Occupied Palestine (QNN)- Arabic-speaking users of social media platforms started writing Arabic like it used to be written 1400 years ago in order to avoid social media platforms’ censorship against pro-Palestine content.

1400 years ago, Arabic letters were being written without dots. Arabic-speaking users on social media saw some websites, which turn normal Arabic letters into dotless ones, as a chance to trick social media algorithms, which ban the usage of several words, related to the Palestinian cause.

Hundreds of users posted solidarity posts on Facebook and Twitter using dotless Arabic letters, proving that the new trick does work.

The users took advantage of the ability of Arabs to spontaneously read dotless letters and recognize them depending on their appearance and context.

Arabic letters used to be dotless nearly 1400 years ago. The oldest found document, containing dotless Arabic letters dates back to 643 AD. Dots were added after many non-Arabs converted to Islam and found it hard to learn Qur’an, which pushed scholars to add dots.
