Arab states slam Israel’s Ben-Gvir storming of Jerusalem’s Al-Aqsa Mosque

Occupied Jerusalem (QNN)- A string of condemnations from several Arab countries quickly followed Israeli far-right National Security Minister Itamar Ben-Gvir’s storming of Jerusalem’s Al-Aqsa Mosque on Thursday morning.
The Jordanian foreign ministry condemned the storming in a statement.
Sinan al-Majali, the ministries spokesperson, said that the storming of the holy site could escalate tensions and lead to a far bigger crisis.
Warning against the “dangerous consequences of allowing extremists to storm the blessed Al-Aqsa Mosque”, he added that the incursion violates the sanctity of the holy site.
“The extremists’ storming is an example of an inflammatory and blatant move that is against the law and history. Israel has no sovereignty over occupied Palestine. The continued Israeli provocations and breaches of history and law could result in a new era of escalations and violence,” the statement said.
Qatar’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs said it considers this a flagrant violation of international law and the Hashemite Custodianship of the holy sites in occupied Jerusalem, warning of the escalatory policy adopted by the Israeli government in the Occupied Palestinian Territories.
It also stressed that the attempts to prejudice the religious and historical status of Al-Aqsa Mosque are not only an attack on the Palestinians but also on millions of Muslims around the world.
The Qatari Foreign Ministry held the Israeli occupation authorities solely responsible for the cycle of violence that will result from these repeated incursions into the blessed Al Aqsa Mosque, calling on the international community to take urgent action to stop these attacks.
The ministry reiterated the firm position of the State of Qatar regarding the justice of the Palestinian cause, and the legitimate rights of the brotherly Palestinian people, including the full right to practice their religious rituals without restrictions, and to establish their independent state on the 1967 borders, with East Jerusalem as its capital.
Meanwhile, the Omani Foreign Ministry expressed the Sultanate of Oman’s condemnation of Israel enabling Ben-Gvir to storm the courtyards of the Al-Aqsa Mosque under the protection of the occupation forces.
The statement called on the international community to assume its responsibilities towards securing the legitimate rights of the Palestinian people, ending the occupation and achieving a just and comprehensive peace.
The Egyptian Foreign Ministry also stressed that “the successive Israeli raids into Al-Aqsa Mosque and attempts to divide it temporally and spatially will not affect its legal and historical status quo, that Al-Aqsa is a purely Islamic endowment and a place of worship for Muslims.”
The Egyptian Foreign Ministry called on the Israeli authorities “to immediately stop these provocative and escalatory actions, which only lead to inflaming sentiments and fueling the existing state of tension in the occupied territories.”
It warned of the dangerous consequences of these “irresponsible practices” on the security and stability in the entire region.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Saudi Arabia expressed the “condemnation and denunciation” for Ben-Gvir’s storming, confirming that “these systematic practices are considered a flagrant violation of all international norms and charters, and a provocation of the feelings of Muslims around the world.”
The Ministry held the Israeli occupation forces “fully responsible for the repercussions of the continuation of these abuses” and stressed its “demand for the international community to assume its responsibilities to end the escalation of the Israeli occupation, provide the necessary protection to civilians, and make all efforts to end this conflict.”
The State of Qatar also condemned in the strongest terms the storming of the courtyards of the blessed Al-Aqsa Mosque, considering this a “flagrant violation of international law and the Hashemite Custodianship of the holy sites in occupied Jerusalem.”
