Aqsa Week 2023: Communities across the world to spread love for Jerusalem’s Al-Aqsa Mosque

London (QNN)- This year the popular Aqsa Week initiative is running from Monday 13th until Sunday 19th February, as always coinciding with Al Isra Wal Miraj, the night the Prophet Muhammad embarked upon a magical journey stopping at Masjid Al-Aqsa along the way.
Aqsa Week was established by UK-based FOA (Friends of Al-Aqsa) in 2017 to highlight the importance of Jerusalem’s Al-Aqsa Mosque and the injustices suffered by Palestinians under Israel’s illegal occupation and apartheid regime.
In 2021, Aqsa Week received support from government departments and prominent institutions worldwide, and in 2022 it was celebrated in over 50 countries. Aqsa Week 2023 is being celebrated across 5 continents.
In a press release, FOA said individuals and mosques across the world are organizing activities to spread the love for Al-Aqsa and raise awareness of the plight of Palestinians living under Israeli apartheid.

FOA noted that this comes at an important time as Israel’s new far-right government has sanctioned the murder of 42 Palestinians in the first 40 days of 2023, and yesterday Israeli PM Netanyahu announced plans for more illegal Israeli settlements in occupied Palestine.
This year Valentine’s Day falls on the Tuesday of Aqsa Week. Linking to this, there will be creative stunts centring around loving Masjid Al-Aqsa in London and Glasgow, including heart-shaped decorations with the beautiful virtues of Al-Aqsa and Palestine. There will also be oversized ‘Love Aqsa’ cards which individuals can sign to profess their love for the holy site.
Hundreds of mosques as well as students on campuses across the UK will distribute leaflets and stickers about Al-Aqsa on Friday.
Aqsa Week Kids is also back, as the week coincides with the February half-term holiday. Since the official launch of Aqsa Week Kids in 2020, more than 4000 children have taken part in the UK.
