AP: Israel Moves Palestinian Detainee Torture Instead of Ending It

Occupied Palestine (Quds News Network)- AP report citing Israeli human rights groups that Palestinian detainees continue to face severe torture after being transferred from the notorious Sde Teiman facility to newly established detention camps.

According to testimonies from over 30 detainees interviewed by Hamoked and Physicians for Human Rights-Israel, prisoners at Ofer and Anatot detention camps suffer from regular beatings, prolonged shackling, and inhumane conditions. Some report being blindfolded for extended periods and denied medical care.

Despite International pressure that forces the Israeli Supreme Court to order to improve detention conditions, rights groups argue that Israel has simply relocated the abuses rather than addressing them.

Israel denies systematic torture, claiming compliance with international law. However, released detainees describe brutal punishments for minor actions, such as making eye contact or requesting medicine. Several leaked video footages depicted rape and sexual violence by Israeli jailers against Palestinian detainees.
