AOC criticizes both parties’ stances on Palestine: “Neither party’s platform is good on Palestine”

Chicago (Quds News Network)- In a recent interview with NYC Council Member Chi Ossé, Congresswoman Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (AOC) expressed her belief that neither the Democratic nor Republican party’s official platforms adequately address the Palestinian issue. AOC stated that both parties are failing to do justice to the Palestinian people.

“That doesn’t mean that they’re the same,” the progressive congresswoman noted. “I think that a Donald Trump presidency would be absolutely catastrophic. I mean, he’s coming out here saying ‘finish the job of a genocide.'”

When asked about the growing number of Americans who will not support Kamala Harris due to her role in the Biden Administration’s involvement in the genocide in Gaza, AOC highlighted that there are also significant issues of oppression and suffering in red states within the US.

“I think about the women that are bleeding out in ER rooms because they live in red states . I think about trans kids that are living in places where their families are trying to figure out if they need to pack up their entire lives and move somewhere else”, she said. The Biden Administration has been criticized for supplying weapons to Israel, which have been used in the killing of at least 40,000 Palestinians, most of them are women and children.

AOC added, “And so to me, the conclusion that I’ve come to is having more people suffer, to put on top of the already horrific suffering that’s going on in Gaza, is not something that I think I’m comfortable with.”

AOC has faced criticism for her stance on Israel’s genocide, particularly for showing support for the family of Itay Chen, an Israeli-American soldier killed during the military operation on October 7th. She has also been criticized for her support of US President Biden, even as his administration continues to back Israeli crimes in Gaza.
