Anti-Genocide Activists in Poland File Complaint to Arrest Israeli Education Minister Yoav Kisch

Warsaw (Quds News Network)- Anti-genocide Polish Activists have filed a request to Polish authorities to arrest Israeli Education Minister Yoav Kisch. Kisch is visiting Poland to attend ceremonies marking International Holocaust Remembrance Day.

According to Israeli public broadcaster Kan, the activists, supported by local human rights groups, submitted a complaint to the Warsaw prosecutor’s office. They accused Kisch, a former fighter pilot and current Israeli government official, of responsibility for war crimes.

Kisch arrived in Poland over the weekend to represent Israel at the 80th-anniversary commemoration of Auschwitz’s liberation. Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu decided not to attend the event fearing an ICC arrest warrant.

The complaint also targets Netanyahu and former Defense Minister Yoav Gallant. It follows the International Criminal Court’s (ICC) decision to issue arrest warrants against them for war crimes.

The move comes after Poland announced it would not arrest senior Israeli officials wanted by the ICC.

Minister Kisch dismissed the complaint, calling it an attempt to “spread lies and distort facts.” He said he is in Poland to honor the memory of Holocaust victims and reaffirm Israel’s commitment to the lessons of history.

“Israel will continue to protect its citizens from deadly terrorism and fight for its right to security,” Kisch stated, according to Kan.

The main Auschwitz commemoration ceremony is scheduled for Monday. The notorious concentration camp was built by the Nazis during World War II. Israel has launched a genocide against the Palestinian people in Gaza, creating conditions that are similar to those created by the Nazis.

Last December, Israeli media reported that Netanyahu declined to attend the event in Poland, fearing potential arrest.

In November 2024, the ICC issued international arrest warrants for Netanyahu and Gallant. The charges include war crimes and crimes against humanity during Israel’s genocide in Gaza since October 7, 2023.
