Another BDS victory... Ben & Jerry's to stop sales in Israeli settlements
Occupied Palestine (QNN)- Ben & Jerry’s announced on Monday that it will no longer allow its ice cream to be sold in the West Bank and the eastern part of Jerusalem.
The company said in a statement on its website "it is inconsistent with our values for Ben & Jerry’s ice cream to be sold in the Occupied Palestinian Territory (OPT)."
The move comes after a wave of online criticism caused the company to go silent on its social media channels for about two months.
The Vermont-based company, known for its progressive messaging in ads and ice cream branding, added that “We also hear and recognize the concerns shared with us by our fans and trusted partners".
The company said it would discontinue an agreement with a licensee that manufactures and sells the ice cream in illegal settlements in the West Bank and the eastern part of Jerusalem. It will, however, continue to operate in the occupation state of Israel.
The US Senate blocked on Wednesday two resolutions that would have stopped the sale of some $450 million in bombs and bulldozers to Israel, amid the assaults on Gaza, Lebanon and Iran.
