Amazon slammed for racism after providing free shipping for illegal settlers, charging native Palestinians

Occupied West Bank (QNN)- Amazon is offering free shipping to Israeli illegal settlements in the West Bank while charging native Palestinians unless they list their country as ‘Israel’, according to the Financial Times.

The US commerce giant has been offering free shipping to ‘Israel’ on orders of more than $49. Meanwhile, the free shipping promotion is also available to Palestinians only if they chose ‘Israel’ as their country instead of the Palestinian Territories.

Nick Caplin, an Amazon spokesman, told the Financial Times that “if a customer within the Palestinian Territories enters their address and selects Israel as the country, they can receive free shipping through the same promotion”.

The FT report assured that Amazon’s offer extends to nearly all Israeli West Bank settlements, which are considered illegal under international law.

Amazon is not the first international company involved in violations in the internationally illegal settlements.

The UN on Wednesday released a list of 112 international and Israeli companies that are involved in illegal settlements and involved in human rights violations in Palestine.
