All Palestinians in Sudan are safe: Palestinian Foreign Ministry
Ramallah (QNN) – The Palestinian Ministry of Foreign and Expatriates Affairs said on Friday that all Palestinians in Sudan are safe despite the chaotic situation in the country.
The ministry said in a press release that it was following up with keen interest the current developments in Sudan and maintaining intensive contacts with the Palestinian embassy in Khartoum to check on the safety of the Palestinian ambassador, the embassy staff and the Palestinian community.
The ministry expressed its hope that peace, security and stability would prevail in the African country.
Following 16 weeks of demonstrations against his rule, Sudanese President Omar al-Bashir was overthrown on Thursday by the Sudanese military which announced a two-year period of transitional military rule to be followed by presidential elections. The military also announced a state of emergency for three months.
