Ali Abunimah Arrested by Swiss Police Over Journalistic Work

Zurich (Quds News Network)- Swiss police arrested Ali Abunimah, executive director of The Electronic Intifada, on Saturday in Zurich. The arrest happened shortly before a scheduled speaking event.
Abunimah remains in detention but has access to legal counsel.
The arrest came a day after his arrival in Zurich for a speaking tour. On Friday, police at Zurich Airport questioned him for an hour before allowing him to enter Switzerland.
This incident reflects growing repression from Western governments against pro-Palestinian activism and journalism.
In Britain last year, authorities used “counter-terror” powers to arrest and raid the homes of several activists and journalists. Asa Winstanley, associate editor of The Electronic Intifada, had his home raided, and officials seized his computers and phones. Winstanley has not faced charges.
