Al Jazeera warns of Israel’s incitement against reporter Anas Al-Sharif and Gaza Crew

Doha (Quds News Network)- Al Jazeera Media Network has strongly condemned the recent incitement and intimidation by an Israeli military spokesperson against its correspondent Anas Al-Sharif and the network’s crew in Gaza. This statement, according to Al Jazeera, not only targets Anas’s character and integrity but also represents a blatant attempt to silence the truth and stifle courageous reporting from Gaza.

Al Jazeera reaffirmed its unwavering commitment to supporting its journalists as they continue to uphold the principles of free and fair journalism, despite the dangers they face. The network emphasized that it will not back down in the face of threats and will persist in shining a light on the realities of the genocide to ensure the voices of the suffering are heard worldwide.

‘Anas Al-Sharif, like many of his brave colleagues, is dedicated to uncovering and sharing the truth on the ground, driven by a deep sense of responsibility toward the people of Gaza and the pursuit of justice, rather than any political agenda. His work highlights the human suffering he witnesses, ensuring that the world sees the consequences of violence and conflict”, Al Jazeera stated.

The Israeli army’s spokesperson in Arabic, Avichay Adraee, had commented on a post by Al Jazeera’s Tamer Al Misshal praising the work and professionalism of Anas Al Sharif.

“The voice and image of lies”, Adraee wrote, accusing Anas Al Shrif. “It’s clear you take pride in them. He covers up the crimes of Hamas and Islamic Jihad by hiding in schools… I am convinced that Anas Al-Sharif knows many of those killed inside Al-Tabi’een School were Hamas militants by name, yet he participates in a false media drama driven by motives unrelated to the people of Gaza”, he claimed.

Al Jazeera called on the international community to stand in solidarity with Anas Al-Sharif and all journalists who risk their lives to report the reality of Gaza. The network warned that such rhetoric suggests an intent to target him, much like it did with Al Jazeera’s slain reporters, Ismail Al-Ghoul and photographer Rami Al-Rifi, in previous incidents aimed at suppressing the truth about Gaza.

Al Jazeera has reiterated that the ongoing attacks on its journalists are part of a broader strategy by the Israeli military to prevent the documentation of the atrocities being committed against civilians in Gaza. Since October 7, Israel’s assault on Gaza, backed by the United States, has led to over 130,000 Palestinian casualties, most of them women and children, alongside widespread destruction and a humanitarian crisis.

The Israeli army has previously killed Al Jazeera journalists Ismail Al-Ghoul, Rami Al-Rifi, and Samer Abu Daqqa, as well as the families of Wael Al-Dahdouh and Moamen Al-Sharafi. The total number of journalists killed by the Israeli army in Gaza has reached 168, an unprecedented toll in the history of wars.
