After 103 days of hunger strike, Alaa Al-Araj is free from Israeli prisons

Occupied Palestine (QNN)- Israeli occupation released on Monday Palestinian detainee Alaa Al-Araj after over a year of imprisonment during which he underwent a 103-day hunger strike in protest against his unfair administrative detention without charge or trial.

Last night, al-Araj was set free from Israeli occupation prisons, and he was warmly welcomed by neighbors, relatives and loved ones.

Al-Araj, a 34-year-old civil engineer and father-of-one, is from Tulkarem city. His only child was born while al-Araj was still held inside the Israeli prisons.

Al-Araj was held under administrative detention – without charge or trial – in Israeli prisons since June 30, 2021 and he started an open-ended hunger strike which lasted 103 days on August 9, 2021 and ended it on November 18, 2021 after reaching an agreement with the Israeli occupation authorities to cancel his administrative detention.

In May 2022, Israeli occupation sentenced him to 10 months after spending 4 months in administrative detention.

Al-Araj had previously been arrested by Israeli occupation and had served a total of five years in Israeli prisons.
