Administrative detainee Abu Atwan enters 3rd month of hunger strike

West Bank (QNN)- Ghadanfar Abu Awan has entered the third month of hunger strike in protest against his administrative detention.
The health of Abu Atwan, from Dora in occupied Hebron, has deteriorated as he completed 60 days of hunger strike. However, Israeli authorities continue to hold him and refuse to release him.
Israeli authorities decided to suspend Abu Atwan’s illegal administrative detention and hold him inside an Israeli hospital. The decision aims at protecting the Israeli Shin Bet and Prison Service from any accountability if anything happened to Abu Atwwan, while, at the same time, detain him inside an Israeli hospital.
Israeli authorities also rejected to move him to a Palestinian hospital.
Administrative detention is incarceration without trial or charge, alleging that a person plans to commit a future offense. It has no time limit, and the evidence on which it is based is not disclosed. The occupation state employs this measure extensively and routinely, and has used it to hold thousands of Palestinians for lengthy periods of time. While detention orders are formally reviewed, this is merely a semblance of judicial oversight, as detainees cannot reasonably mount a defense against undisclosed allegations. Nevertheless, courts uphold the vast majority of orders.
