Activist asks Canadian FM: “Why are you supporting a holocaust in Gaza?”

Montreal (Quds News Network)- Pro-Palestine activist and author Yves Engler was escorted out of a press conference held by Canadian Foreign Minister Melanie Joly on Friday after he questioned Canada’s support for Israel over its genocide against Palestinians in Gaza.
“How many Palestinian children have to be killed before you end all Canadian arms, charity and intelligence ties?” the activist asked the Canadian FM.
“How many Palestinian children have to be killed before you end that?”
“Joly, will you list the IDF as a terrorist organization?”
The Canadian FM refused to answer, however.
“Why are you supporting a holocaust in Gaza?” The activist continued.
How many Palestinian children have to be killed before you end all 🇨🇦 arms, intelligence & charity assistance to Israeli military?
That’s question I sought to ask @melaniejoly
Unfortunately Montréal mayor @Val_Plante recognized me & sent police so had to ask it to seated minister pic.twitter.com/4h8IccmFNK— Yves Engler (@EnglerYves) October 18, 2024
October 7, 2024 marked the first anniversary of Israel’s genocidal campaign in Gaza. Pro-Palestine activists in Canada have lamented the failure of the Canadian government to achieve a ceasefire and stop Israel’s deadly actions as more than 42,000 Palestinians have been killed in Gaza since the start of the assault.
Canadians for Justice and Peace in the Middle East (CJPME) said it “believes that Canada’s continued inaction in response to Israel’s deliberate mass killing of civilians shows that it has failed to learn any lessons from the last year,” urging Canada to respond to genocide by cutting off its ties with Israel, including through the imposition of a two-way arms embargo and sanctions on Israeli leaders.
“Over the past year, we have witnessed the collective failure of Canada and its NATO allies, especially the US, to stop genocide unfolding in Gaza. At home, Canadians have watched their political leaders and news media normalize, rationalize, and even cheer on Israel’s genocidal acts,” said Thomas Woodley, President of CJPME.
“Canada must finally pull the plug on its support for this genocidal regime, and do everything it can to bring war criminals to justice.”
