The Waqf noted that Palestinians from the 1948-occupied Palestine and occupied Jerusalem succeeded in reaching the holy site and attending the prayers. Israeli forces continue to deny thousands from the West Bank from reaching Jerusalem for prayers.
Israeli forces stormed the Mosque during the iftar, confiscating banners from youth groups distributing meals to worshipers, local sources said.
Today is the 13th day of the Muslim holy month.
Israeli settlers stormed the holy site on the first day of the Jewish holiday of Purim. The settlers performed provocative tours and Talmudic rituals in the mosque’s courtyards.
Meanwhile, Israel has imposed a set of restrictions on Al-Aqsa Mosque and its surrounding area in the Old City of Jerusalem during the holy month.
The restrictions permit only a few thousand people to enter the mosque, a site that is typically very crowded during the fasting season.
Additionally, only certain age groups, including men over the age of 55, women over the age of 50, and children 12 and under, are allowed entry.
The communal Friday prayers will accept up to 10,000 people, with those wishing to attend need to submit requests in advance.
