Marking Palestine Children’s Day, 5th of April, the Palestine Prisoners’ Club revealed that there are 140 Palestinian children, all under the age of 18, held in Israeli jails, including two under administrative detention.
Since 2015, the Israeli occupation authorities have detained more than 7500 Palestinian children, said the Palestine Prisoners’ Club.
Since 2000, the occupation has detained more than 16,000 Palestinian children.
The group also said that during the COVID-19 pandemic, the occupation denied the children of their basic rights, including access to healthcare and family visits.
The Defence for Children International- Palestine(DCIP), also said that every year, between 500 and 700 Palestinian children are prosecuted by Israel in military courts.
Until the end of March 2021, human rights groups have counted 230 Palestinian children detained by the Israeli occupation, mostly from Jerusalem.
85% of Palestinian children, detained by the occupation state, were subject to physical violence during their detention, said the DCIP, 68% of them had their hands and legs cuffed while 91% were blindfolded.
In the same context, Israeli authorities continued to kill and meme Palestinian children. Last year, nine children between 14 and 17 were killed, seven of them were in the West Bank and two in Gaza, while one child was killed this year in Salfit.
