87,000 students sit 2023’s Tawjihi exams in Palestine, says Ministry of Education

Occupied Palestine (QNN)- About 87,000 male and female students will sit this year’s ‘Tawjihi’ exams across the occupied Palestinian territories, according to figures released by the Palestinian Education Ministry.

Today, Palestinian headlines, news wires, tweets, and emails have been dominated by the start of the secondary school graduation exams, known in the region as “Tawjihi”.

The Tawjihi exams have kicked off on Wednesday at 9 a.m. local time in the occupied West Bank, Gaza Strip, Jerusalem, and 1948-occupied Palestine. The results are expected to be announced in July.

The number of students applying for the exam from the Gaza Strip is 38,880 across 232 halls, according to the ministry.

This year’s exam season comes after a difficult month for students in Gaza as the exam takes place just one month after Israel’s May brutal assault on the Gaza Strip which killed 33 Palestinians, including 6 children, 3 women, 2 elders, and 22 men.

Students in the West Bank have also experienced hardships as a result of the ongoing Israeli occupation and its brutal treatment of the Palestinians, including house demolition, arrest, killing, and raids.
