7 Freed Palestinian Detainees Hospitalized Due to Torture

Occupied West Bank (Quds News Network)- The Palestinian Prisoners Club announced on Saturday that seven Palestinian hostages, released today as part of the fifth prisoner swap under the ceasefire agreement, have been transferred to the hospital due to severe health conditions due to Israeli torture.

Abdullah Al-Zaghari, head of the club, stated that all seven detainees require medical attention, including treatment and examinations, after enduring months of brutality and torture in Israeli detention centers. Among those hospitalized is prominent Hamas leader Jamal Al-Tawil from the occupied West Bank.

The recent prisoner release highlights the deteriorating health conditions of Palestinian detainees following their release. Al-Zaghari emphasized that the poor health of the freed detainees underscores the appalling treatment they faced inside Israeli prisons.

“The difference between the humane and ethical treatment of prisoners by the resistance and the violent, oppressive methods of the Israeli occupation is clear,” said Al-Zaghari. He also condemned Israel’s prison policies, referring to them as a form of slow death for detainees.

Israel’s action highlights the Israeli systematic abuse of detainees, which disregards both their age and health conditions.

The Palestinian Prisoners Club warned against the continued torture, repression, and medical neglect facing Palestinian detainees in Israeli custody.

Meanwhile, the Palestinian Media Office reported that freed detainees arriving in Gaza suffer from the long-term effects of systematic torture. Several detainees, now receiving urgent medical care at the European Hospital in southern Gaza, spoke about the severe abuse they endured during their detention.

Shadi Fakhri Al-Barghouthi, who spent 45 years in Israeli prisons, shared his harrowing experience. He described the conditions as extremely harsh, citing the deliberate deprivation of food, medicine, and constant humiliation. He also revealed that he lost around 35 kilograms due to starvation policies and that prisoners were denied the ability to practice their religious duties, including prayers.
