PPS: Health condition of hunger-striking Palestinian detainee in Israeli prisons deteriorates

Occupied Palestine, (QNN) – The health condition of hunger-striking Palestinian detainee in Israeli prisons Khalil Awawdeh has deteriorated.

The Palestinian Prisoners’ Society (PPS) said on Monday that Awawdeh continues his open-ended hunger strike for 33 consecutive days.

His move came in protest against his unfair administrative detention without a charge or trial by Israeli occupation authorities.

Israeli forces detained Awawdeh on December 27, 2021 and issued against him a 6-month administrative detention order.

40-year-old Awawdeh is a resident of the town of Ethna to the southwest of the occupied West Bank city of Hebron.

The PPS noted that ‘Israel’ detained Awawdeh several times since 2002.

It also noted that it’s the second time for Awawdeh to launch an open-ended hunger strike. He engaged in the mass hunger strike that took place in 2012.

According to Palestinian statistics, ‘Israel’ holds about 4,850 Palestinians, including 34 women, 160 children, and around 540 administrative detainees, in its prisons.
