Bella Hadid: Will you free my Palestine

California (QNN)- American supermodel from Dutch-Palestinian descent, Bella Hadid, has again expressed love and support for her homeland, Palestine, in the Valentine’s Day.

Celebrating Valentine’s Day, Hadid decided yesterday to express her love and affection for Palestine, sharing an Instagram post with her 49 million followers: a picture of a pink heart with a “Will You Free My Palestine” statement.

This is not the first time Hadid expresses her love for Palestine as she regularly celebrates her Palestinian heritage with her followers on Instagram and often uses the platform to shed light on Israel’s occupation of Palestinian land.

Last month, the US news channel Fox News accused Hadid, who works with high-end fashion brands, of spreading a “subtle political message” that is hidden in her jewellery.

This came after the model decided to step out wearing a Chvker Jewelry necklace bearing the text “Palestine,” custom made by the brand’s designer Nazlia Yunus and paired with a nameplate “Isabella” chain.

She was spotted in West Hollywood with her brother Anwar and some friends for media artist Alana O’Herlihy’s birthday celebrations at The Nice Guy restaurant.

Hadid called out Instagram in 2020 for removing one of her posts, where she shared a photo of her father’s passport, highlighting the section on place of birth, which read: “Palestine”.

She later shared a screenshot of a message she received from the platform stating that she had violated community guidelines, including harassment and bullying.

Hadid hit back, questioning the platform’s decision to take down the post.

She wrote: “What part of me being proud of my father’s birthplace of Palestine is ‘bullying, harassment, graphic, or sexual nudity’? Are we not allowed to be Palestinian on Instagram? This, to me, is bullying.

“You can’t erase history by silencing people. It doesn’t work like that,” she added.

When she is not using her platform to raise awareness about pressing humanitarian issues in Palestine, the 25-year-old can be found rolling grape leaves and stuffing whole vegetables to make dolma with her father, Mohamed Hadid, a Palestinian real estate developer, and older sisters on Instagram Stories.

“A Palestinian girl on the cover of Vogue,” 25-year-old Hadid, who is a native of Los Angeles and a descendant of a Palestinian refugee family displaced in 1948, wrote once in a post in her page on Instagram.

She continued, “I am happy to say: I will not stop talking about the oppression and pain that Palestinians systematically face.”

“With only love in my heart and an open mind to educate myself and learn more every day . No matter what, I love you (Palestine).”

Bella and her sister Gigi Hadid have been advocating for the rights of Palestinians against Israel’s oppression and aggression.

Bella is also slammed everytime she expresses support and solidarity to the Palestinians, the latest was in May when she was among the thousands of demonstrators who gathered in New York City in a pro-Palestinian march in solidarity with Palestine when Gaza Strip was under Israeli attacks.

“The way my heart feels … To be around this many beautiful, smart, respectful, loving, kind and generous Palestinians all in one place … it feels whole! We are a rare breed!!” the model wrote at the time. “It’s free Palestine til Palestine is free!!!” she added.

Her presence at the demonstration came hours after she shared a different post on Instagram of her grandparents on their wedding day in 1941, along with an image of her father as a child next to his seven siblings and their mom.

The star noted that the siblings were “taken out of their homes in Palestine in 1948, becoming refugees in Syria, then Lebanon, then Tunisia.”I love my family, I love my Heritage, I love Palestine,” she wrote.

Also, Bella and Gigi along with British pop star Dua Lipa were attacked that month for their support of Palestine and accused of of anti-Semitism.

In a full-page advertisement in The New York Times, the three was accused falsely of forming an “unholy trinity of anti-Semitic bile to demonize the Jewish people, whom they insist have no right to defend themselves.”

The ad refers to Lipa and models Bella and Gigi Hadid as “mega-influencers” who have “vilified the Jewish state” and “accused Israel of ethnic cleansing.”

The advertisement includes a photo of all three women modeling red-carpet looks, with the headline: “Meet the new Hamas influencer brigades.”

Many celebrities had voiced support for Palestine that time, including Mark Ruffalo, Viola Davis, Idris Elba, The Weeknd, Zayn Malik and Roger Waters.

This support came after 11 days of Israeli deadly aggression on the Gaza Strip last May, as 248 Palestinians were killed in the aggression, including 66 children and 39 women, and at least 1,910 others were injured.
