3 Palestinian female prisoners in Israeli jails open hunger strike over Israel’s crackdown
Occupied Palestine (QNN)- The three Palestinian female prisoners who had been brutally assaulted and held in solitary confinement at Damon prison by Israeli Prison Service (IPS) have started an open-ended hunger strike against IPS’s crackdown.
The Palestinian Prisoners Information Office said on Wednesday that Shorouq Dweiat, Mona Qa’dan, and Marah Bakier have started a hunger strike in protest against IPS’s crackdown and abusing them.
The family of Mona Qa’dan also confirmed that their daughter has started a hunger strike, but the family said there are no details about her situation, noting she suffers from diseases.
The Palestinian Prisoners Information Office said on Wednesday that the IPS is still holding the three Palestinian female prisoners in solitary confinement at Damon prison.
The Office added that the situation in Israeli prisons was escalating on Wednesday as the IPS refused to meet the demands of the prisoners and continued its crackdown on them.
It added that the IPS cut the power off, removed Hijabs of hijabi detainees, and used tear gas against the detainees. It also denied them visitations and prevented them from using the prison canteen.
The detainees returned their meals and knocked on the cells’ doors in protest against the Israeli repression.
Therefore, amid the continuous crackdown on the female prisoners, all the Palestinian prisoners in Israeli jails will announce today a series of escalation measures, the Office said.
Multiple Palestinian factions have called for a “day of rage” on Friday in support of the prisoners.
