250 Palestinians arrested since the start of 2021
Israeli forces arrested 30 children during the first two weeks of 2021.
Ramallah (QNN)- The occupation state increased its arrest policy against native Palestinians, arresting 250 citizens in 2021, Palestine Center For Prisoners’ Studies.
The head of the center, Riyadh Al Ashqar, said 2021 will not probably be better than last year. Arrests sharply increased during the first two weeks of 2021. While Covid-19 infections among prisoners increased by 90% in comparison with ten months of 2020.
Al Ashqar added that the arrests became a method to drain people’s power ad repress them. It intensively targets all segments of society.
He added that the arrests targeted 30 children under the age of 18. The youngest of them is Alaa Haddad (11 years old) from occupied Jerusalem.
Israeli forces also arrested the wounded child Muhiddin Gheith (18 years old) at the 60 military checkpoint after shooting at him.
Al Ashqar added that ‘Israel’ arrested the lawyer Suheil Huseini (59 years old) and his son Fahd after breaking into their house in Hebron.
They also arrested Sheikh Saeed Armah (52 years old) after a photo of him defending his land spread on social media.
Al Ashqar noted that the center documented one arrest from Gaza. They released him a few hours later.
He also noted that the main event of 2020 was COVID-19. The virus broadly spread among prisoners. The cases increased from 140 last year to 236 in 2021. The PIS continues to hide the real numbers of the cases.
The health conditions of several prisoners deteriorated recently, said Al Ashqar. The Israeli policy of medical negligence continued. Hussein Masalmeh (37 years old) is a cancer patient, who has been suffering. Israeli authorities, however, refuse to release him.
